What Xwidget could have been...
What Xwidget could have been and how it should have succeeded? Just a short rant this time.
Xwidget had the potential to be a rather nice widget IDE and widgeting environment allowing easy widget development and putting javascript programs on the desktop. It almost achieved this by building a very decent graphical GUI where a developer could compose and animate widgets and combining this with the embedding of a javascript rendering engine into one Windows desktop tool.
However, the very poor editing environment, the lack of any documentation whatsoever and the buggy implementation of APIs, coupled with a complete lack of support/updates fo

Update - Windows 10 October Update
Read on all artists that use a computer to create their art. If you use Windows 10 then you have a potential problem that could cause you to LOSE ALL YOUR ART.
ALERT: Windows 10 October Update (1809) BUG - synchronisation issue causes deletion of ALL your data within the user profile structure (MY DOCUMENTS &c). Affects Windows 10 HOME and PRO versions.
UPDATE: - Microsoft have removed the update after many users have had ALL their files deleted. By the way, Microsoft knew that Windows was deleting files, they had known for months that it was doing this and they still rolled out the update.
UPDATE: - The update will now become the NOVEMBER

Thinking About Engines...
I was doing a little programming for one of my graphical creations but my mind started to wander... I like thinking about engines and that is what came to mind, I have a straight six 3.8 and a 1.4 litre carburetter aspirated 4-pot as well as a cooking-2.0 litre turbo diesel. In my time I have owned a 4.0 litre V8, a 3.1 litre V6 and 2.5 V6 twin turbo Maserati as well as a 2.0 four-pot turbo Rover. Hundreds of horsepower, all fun.
Fig 01. The engine in my Maserati (when I was rich).
Unfortunately, I am not thinking about that sort of engine. Instead thinking about the engines that underpin the creations that I build. I chose to build in Qui

Working on new versions of the media players
I have two media players, one for Xwidgets and the other for the Yahoo Widget Engine (konfabulator). They are on my desktop all the time, even while I work, providing me with music all day. I use them by default as they allow me to reach several music folders immediately and select my current track whilst preparing my next - all through a thoroughly steampunk interface.
The Xwidget is the one with the BlackAdder font.
I am revamping the menus, improving the interface, adding support for full drag and drop, internal and external, ctrl/c+ ctrl/v, making the code much more efficient and adding access to an external player allowing video to be

Xwidget, next task to popularise it further
The next task to popularise Xwidget further is to convince the non-widgeteers out there that Xwidget is a usable alternative to other products. There is no other supported widget engine in development now that allows you to create non-square, non-traditional apps with fully transparent backgrounds. These are still very rare in the whole world of desktop development. It can be done using 3GLs on Windows but it requires serious coding and is complex. Xwidget does it easily and by default. This is a major selling point for Xwidget that the world does not yet really understand.
In addition, Xwidget is underselling itself. It sells itself as a wi

Desktop application using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
How can someone create Desktop applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript?
A very simple way of creating javascript apps that run on the desktop perfectly well without requiring the complexities of node.js or electron is to use the Xwidget engine or the yahoo widget engine. Both engines use ECMA standard javascript so any web app built using javascript can be ported into one of the engines and vice versa a widget's code can be adapted for the web. Both engines can both style text using a limited version of css but this is not necessary as the output goes to objects whose screen position and other properties are described in XML.
The java

Xwidget Pro version - what is this all about?
Some people have noticed that there is now an option for a "Pro" version of Xwidgets. A link exists on the "about" window that pops up from the menu about option. It may also pop up at other times, for example when downloading any "extras".
What is this Pre-Version about? This is a valid question that you may be asking yourself and that I will do a little to try and answer.
First of all I am not the developer so what I am stating here is merely the opinion of someone in-the-know.
Tony created Xwidgets on the PC and Android and he did this all by himself. Other widget engines were created by teams of developers. However in Xwidgets there wa
